District Convention News

August 18, 2010
Fellow Georgia District Exchangites,
The Exchange Club of Columbus convention committee has been hard at work
planning for the 2011 Georgia District Exchange Club convention. It will be a great one.
I encourage all of you to attend the convention. You will learn a lot about Exchange
and you will have a good time.
More information, including registration forms, will be forthcoming over the next few
months.
The District Convention will be in Columbus from June 7 through June 9, 2011. There will be no conflict with Fathers' Day.
The festivities will be split between the Columbus Marriott and the Columbus Convention
and Trade Center, which is next door to the Marriott.
The Silent Auction, to benefit the Georgia District Exchange Club Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse will be in the Chattahoochee Room of the Marriott. That is just inside the front door.
The Silent Auction will begin on Friday morning and run through Saturday afternoon.
On Thursday, June 7, there will be a golf tournament at the Bull Creek Golf Club starting
at noon.
The golf tournament, chaired by Past District President Bill Bailey, will be under the auspices of the Georgia District Exchange Club Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
All proceeds from the golf tournament will go to the foundation.
The traditional Thursday evening event, sponsored by the Exchange Club of Columbus,
will be at the Civil War Naval Museum at Port of Columbus. It promises to be the best ever.
Beginning on Friday morning, June 8, the Child Abuse Prevention Breakfast will be at the
Convention and Trade Center. Also on Friday will be the the first business meeting, the memorial servuce, the Awards luncheon and the educational seminars. The nominating committee meeting and the District board meeting will be held at the Marriott in the afternoon after the seminars.
For all you Past District Presidents, Bill Bailey is preparing something special for the Past
Presidents' dinner on Friday evening. The location will be announced at a future date.
Saturday morning is the One Nation under God breakfast followed by the second business
meeting at the Convention and Trade Center. The speech contest will follow.
The Youth Luncheon will be immediately after the speech contest. The Quick Think a Thon
is later in the afternoon.
The Saturday evening banquet will be at the Convention and Trade Center in the evening.
After the banquet, there will be a reception in the Chattahoochee Room in the Marriott
for Marty Smith our incoming President of the Georgia District.
This has been a brief outline of the convention events. I will publish a more detailed
convention agenda on this site when we get closer to the convention date.
In the meanwhile, email me with any questions or suggestions. This is your convention.
Yours in Exchange,
Jess
